Sales Tax Rate Increases to 7.75 Percent on April 1
On April 1, 2017, the sales tax rate in Fulton County outside the City of Atlanta will increase from 7 percent to 7.75 percent, when the collection of Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST) begins.
On November 8, 2016, Fulton County voters approved the T-SPLOST referendum to increase the sales tax by ¾ of a penny (or 0.75 percent) in order to fund transportation projects in participating cities.
The new 7.75 percent rate comprises a 4 percent state sales tax and a 3.75 percent Fulton County sales tax and applies to the sale or use of the most taxable tangible property and most taxable services delivered to a purchaser in Fulton County outside the City of Atlanta.
