Road Rage Stats 2019

Below are survey results conducted by AAA where 1,000 motorists answered questions relating to road rage and anger while driving.

  1. Purposely Tailgated = 51%
  2. Brake Checked Vehicle Behind = 46%
  3. Honked or Given Middle Finger  = 44%
  4. Yelled, Screamed and Made Improper Gestures = 35%
  5. Cut someone off on purpose = 13%
  6. Got out of the vehicle and confronted another driver = 3%
  7. Collided with another vehicle on purpose = 2%

More interesting statistics:

  • 97% of the 2% of motorists who reported colliding with another vehicle, also reported actions 1 through 6 above
  • 62% Male and 38% Female
  • 70% under 30 years of age
  • 21% with college degree
  • 80% Rural
  • Alabama is the state with the highest road rage fatalities per capita
