What cars will be discontinued in the year 2023? (PDF)

This year has seen many changes in the car market, with more SUVs on the road than ever before. Sedans are becoming less common, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any left. If you’re interested in finding a great deal for your next car, keep this list handy so you know which models to buy now before they disappear altogether.

Automakers will usually discontinue old models in response to changing consumer tastes and lower sales numbers. Some brands will also get rid of cars that compete with other models in the same lineup.

Here are some cars and SUVs that you won’t see next year.

1. Acura ILX

The ILX compact luxury sedan originally came out in 2013 as Acura’s entry-level model. Unfortunately, it didn’t go through its first major update until now. The new 2023 Integra will serve as Acura’s point of entry for first-time buyers.

2. Chevrolet Spark

For the 2015 model year, Chevrolet has given the Spark subcompact hatchback its most affordable price tag to date. Yet even with a base price, the Spark still offers Wi-Fi and smartphone integration, with prices starting at $14,595.

3. Buick Encore

The Encore was introduced in 2013 with the goal of attracting younger buyers. Sales for the first nine months of 2022 topped 42% less than in the same span in 2021, according to GM.

4. Hyundai Veloster N

What does the N mean in the sporty compact hatchback Veloster N? The N specifies that this car is for performance enthusiasts. Just like BMW has its M division, Hyundai offers its versions of various vehicles. Unfortunately, 2022 will be the last year for one of the market’s best hot hatches.

5. Ford EcoSport

Last year, Ford announced that the EcoSport subcompact crossover SUV would be removed from the US market in 2022. The model has only been available since late 2017 and it’s seen a decline in sales.

6. Lamborghini Aventador

The Aventador was launched in 2011 to replace Lamborghini’s then-decade-old Murciélago model. To celebrate the end of an era, the company is building 600 units of a special edition LP 780-4 Ultimae that will be available in 2023.

7. Volkswagen Passat

The Passat sedan will not be available in the United States in 2023; its limited-edition 2022 model year will be the last, after thirty years of its debut in the United States.

8. Hyundai Accent

Hyundai has discontinued the Accent because they’ve expanded beyond sedans to include SUVs. As a result, the Venue becomes their lowest-priced car.
