The report measures money spent by owners and manufacturers of vehicles from model years 2018-21 after 12 months on the road, covering more than 16 million vehicles across 351 models and more than $2 billion in service costs.
Included in the calculations are maintenance, unplanned repairs, service campaigns, diagnostics, software updates, and warranty and recall fixes. Costs such as gasoline, collisions, insurance, and local and state inspections are not included.
